Part VI: Over On The Other Shore...

Brooke Wilton and Chris Powell got back together in 2016, deciding at first just to revive their songwriting partnership. Soon after, it became evident that they needed to revive most of the old material to let it breathe again, and to stay true to the lyrical content, they had little choice but to besome Dwarf Nebula once more. After a few false starts, they were able to enlist a rhythm section and even a keyboard player and begin playing out again. By this point Brooke had begun booking Prog-rock shows around town under the banner of Third Sat From The Sun, as well as DJ-ing / programming progressive rock radio shows, both on the internet and on KOOP. Below is but one formation of the band during this time, which never got to play out.

(L-R) Ty Gill, Chris Powell, Nick Marcy, Brooke Wilton

In the spring of 2018, Brooke organized an off-SXSW showcase of 10 local Prog bands and one DJ (himself as Baron Mind) and put together a compilation CD of all the bands that played the event and a few more, with the help of VoyagerFest. Dwarf Nebula performed on both. Brooke was also interviewed on KOOP (which was what eventually led to joining the team at Virtual Noise). The lineup of this band would be costistemt through the rest of the year, with Sean Haezebrouck on drums and Thomas Shaw on keyboards. Intermittently Hojo Riley would play bass and sing backing vocals, and Ty Gill would play fretless and fretted basses. Both would return to the band to be on the album Search For Spaniel Boy.

Toward the end of 2019, the first full length Dwarf Neula studio album Search For Spaniel Boy was finally recorded. It was decided that it would be a conceptual album, as Brooke had written a loose narative around the histtory of the band, called Saga Of Spaniel Boy. The album is set to be released in the spring of 2019! (Pre-order one here!)

The album lineup: (L-R) Thomas Shaw, Ty Gill, Brooke Wilton, Chris Powell, and Sean Haezebrouck. Hojo Riley (not shown) and the album's co-producer, engineer, and long-time friend Lowell Rice (who took this photo) would add backing vocals.
